Description
Mariella Crack’n Up is the summer climbing spot of Palermo. It's in shadow since the 13:00 and has almost routes of 6 degree. Mariella Crack'n Up is the ideal place to spent a pleasant afternoon during the summer, before cooling off in the crystal clear waters of the Addaura, visible from the crag. The climbing is mainly technical and of balance. The routes have little sharp crimps and some of them go across a compact white limestone.
Approach
Starting from the center of Palermo, take Viale Regina Margherita road, and cross the Parco della Favorita toward Mondello. Once nearly at Mondello, turn right taking Via Monte Ercta road. It's one of the two accesses to the Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia, on the top of Mount Pellegrino. At now this road is closed for some rock falls a little more forward the crags, but local climbers usually go along the short stretch that leads to the crags. Once passed the Valdesi crag, and the hairpin turn to the right, continue for about 150m and park your vehicle in the widening/viewpoint on the left side of the road.
