Description
One of the few summer crags of Ferentillo area, San Lorenzo is opposite to the Sports Centre of Ferentillo. Its terrain is quite atypical as regards Ferentillo. Its walls are made of big rocks, caves and vertical slab, surrounded by a labyrinth of paths, both good and bad. Traces of prehistoric people have been found into the caves, and of Celtic people too: there are some runes etched on the rocks. \nThe rock is a solid (or quite solid, depending on the area) limestone. The crag has just been re-bolted by Manuel Paparelli and friends.
Approach
The parking spot is at Fosso Ancaiano Road, in Ferentillo. From Rome, take the A1 and exit at Orte. Here take the road to Terni. Take the third exit of Terni, Terni Est, to follow Valnerina-Marmore Waterfall. Immediately after the exit take a tunnel, then another tunnel leads directly into Valnerina, completely bypassing Terni. Take the Valnerina Road (Statale Valnerina) until Ferentillo. Enter on the left of Ferentillo village (which is not the square with the bar and the climbing shop, that one is the fraction of Precetto, shortly after on the right). Follow Via della Vittoria (the main road) for few tens of meters. The first road on the left is Via del Fosso Ancaiano, with a wide park along the road.
