Something about Peter Pan

Desctiption

The wall of Peter Pan is the eastern part of the Frasassi Canyon south face.

The rock that you will find there differs from the rock of all the other walls of the Canyon, because it's older, and therefore more weathered.

Peter Pan is a really special climbing spot, either because you seem to be miles from the civilization or because from the top of all the routes you can see the floor of the Frasassi Canyon, 700 meters below.

The path leading to the wall (named "Sentiero dei Gradoni"), just by itself is worth a Sunday stroll.

The riveting sometimes impose to pass a hard move with the last clipped protection below you, and the routes require skilled climbing. The grades are severe.

Most of the routes have been equipped through a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Please respect the environment, respect the other climbers, and respect the routes. Since the approach is long and the path is exposed, I advise against bringing dogs and children.

All or nearly all the routes are just set so that the helmet and a brush are two indispensable accessories. Either way, you will go back to your car after having spent an unforgettable climbing day.

Approach

Take the SS76 routes and exit at Valtreara.

The SS76 is connected to the highway A14, through the exit Ancona Nord (to the East), and to the SS318 through the exit Gualdo Tadino (to the Nord).

If you are coming from West, take the exit Valtreara and follow first the signs to Grotte di Frasassi and then the ones to San Vittore, passing through the hamlet of Pierosara.

If you are coming from East, take the exit Sassoferrato and follow the signs to Grotte di Frasassi and then the ones to San Vittore, passing through the hamlet of Pierosara.

Park your vehicle at the hamlet and from there continue on foot.
