Paganica - Madonna d'Appari

The wall of Madonna d'Appari is composed of two sides at right angle.

the left side is 30 meters high and it's vertical, whereas the left side is 20 meters high and it's slightly inclined.

The wall overlooks the street, and the car traffic can get annoying.

The spot is good for children, as long as accompanied by an adult.

Approach

From L’Aquila, follow the signs to Paganica, and then to Assergi.

Once in front of the hermitage of  Madonna D’Appari, park your vehicle, or in the parking of the church, or in some dirt widenings on the left side of the road (giung toward Assergi). The rock wall is right next the tunnel.

Coming from Rome,  take the highway A24, and exit at L’Aquila Est. Then follow the signs to  Assergi/Funivia Gran Sasso.

If instead you come from Teramo, take the highway A24 direction l'Aquilq and exit at Assergi. Then follow the signs to l’Aquila. Pass first the town of Assergi then the town of Camarda, up to the hermitage Madonna d'Appari (after about 5 minutes).
