Something about Latifondo

Description

Latifondo is located on a small West faced cliff. It has two areas: the first offers about 20 single pitches routes. The second one offers two interesting multi pitches sport climbing routes. The approach is short and easy, and the space under the rock wall is wide. This is good for families with children.

The single pitch routes are of low, medium and medium/high difficulties, and almost all of medium length. The two multipitches sport climbing routes are of medium difficulty too.

It’s recommended for climbing in summer, during the morning, but it’s good also during the mid seasons. The single pitches area is good for climbing in winter too, but only during the afternoon.

Approach

Either from Ancona or from Rome, take the SS 76 road of the Esino Valley and exit at Genga  – Grotte di Frasassi. Then follow the signs to  Falcioni – Pontechiaradovo. Pass these two districts and continue up to a level crossing at a bridge over a river. Cross the bridge and turn right (so that you have the river on the right and the rock wall of the Pontechiaradovo crag on the left). Continue along the rock wall and park your car after a curve, before the point in which the road gets raised and passes over the tunnel off the SS76 road. The parking post is near the road to the abandoned quarry of Romita.
