Something about Configni

Description

Nice crag in the beautiful country of Sabina. The cliff is near the main village of Configni on the side of M. Cosce. The rock is a pretty good limestone with a great variety of slab, crack, corners and some overhang. The routes are about 15-20 meters long. There are different areas all perfect for the hot summer being the shadow after 13.00 p.m. and with a beautiful wood to mitigate the temperature.

The bolting of the crag started in 2007 from an idea of the president of pro-loco Giuliana De Angelis and Marco Sapora. Thanks to them and the municipality of Configni in few month it was possible to bolt the first lines. Mimmo Scipioni and Marco Sapora started the work and after some time they were joined by Manuel Leo, Gabriella and Gianni De Marchi. The cliff has been opened to the public from May the 20th 2007. It is relevant to point out that at the beginning of the bolting some lines of fixs were found in the A area but it was not possible to find who really started the bolting of the climbing area. Otherwise, everything has been conserved as it was and the names at the start of the routes used.
