San Vito lo Capo: Bunker and Crown of Aragon revamped with titan and HCR bolts

San Vito lo Capo: two climbing areas have just been revamped.

The Bunker, which is a few meters from the sea, has been re-equipped with Titan anchors.

Crown of Aragon, in the Macari zone, has been re-equipped with HCR (High Corrosion Resistance) stainless steel expansion bolts.

The climbers who, this year, have chosen to spend their holidays in San Vito lo Capo, found a nice change.

The Bunker area (on the sea cliff of Cala Mancina, just under the bunker left over the World War II, and Crown of Aragon have been re-equipped.

Both were equipped at the beginning of San Vito lo Capo, when the A4  Stainless steel (316L) was not used yet.

For this reason, I decided to revamp them earlier.

The Bunker, located on the seacliff of Cala Mancina, a few dozen of meters from the sea, has been entirely re-equipped with titan bolts purchased from  Titan Climbing, and paid partly with personal funds and partly with the donations from the many climbers who came through the Y.M.C.A. Climbing House in recent years.

The area of Crown of Aragon, located near the hamlet of Macari, almost at 150 meters above the sea level, quite far from the sea water, has been almost entirely re-equipped almost with HCR stainless steel expansion bolts, purchased from  Oliunid and paid with the proceeds of the book guide of San Vito lo Capo published by ClimbAdvisor.

Story, credits and details about such purchases have been filed on our web site, at San Vito lo Capo: acciaio HCR (High Corrosion Resistance)per le nuove vie and Primi Fittoni al titanio a San Vito lo Capo.

Anyway I would again like thank

  • the users of ClimbAdvisor, who have bought the book guide written by me
  • the Y.M.C.A. Climbing House patrons, who donated their contribution in the big glass jug
  • Oliunid and the Titan Climbing, that have not speculated on the climbing security, but on the contrary, cleverly offered me advantageous conditions, allowing me to revamp something more.

As another means of ensuring safety, I will keep records of all these maintenance operations in the database of the San Vito lo Capo routes. Thus on the next updates of my San Vito lo Capo climbing book guide  the field "Bolting" of each revamped route will be filled with the used materials and the year of the maintenance operation.

And finally, I would add that the HCR and Titan bolts bought in October are now running out.

We are planning new initiatives to finance the revamping of San Vito lo Capo: sponsorships, crowdfunding and, of course, selling other book guides.

Thus I would require the support of all the climbers who like spending their holidays in San Vito lo Capo, and of companies that want to connect their image to climber safety. Thanks in advance!
