Lo Scarpone, the magazine of the Italian Alpin Club (CAI), has publishedan article by Elena Casolaro about limbing in the Monti Cmini and, in particular, the small crag  of Fonno della Botte, in Soriano nel Cimino.

Surroundedn by woodland on the slopes of the Ancient Beech Forest of Monte Cimino, Fonno della Botte has recently been extended and re-equipped and now offers just over twenty sport climbing routes on the distinctive Cimino Ignimbrite.

To tell the story of the crag and, more generally, of climbing in the Soriano area, Elena Casolaro interviewed three members of our community, each connected to this area in a different way: Adriano Quatrini, one of those behind the recent redevelopment of Fonno della Botte and the bolter of several of its new routes together with Valerio Gabrielli; Federico D'Isep, who discovered and played a major role in developing Soriano's bouldering areas; and Carmela Malomo, who introduces the crag and describes its main features.

The result is the story of a small but fascinating climbing area, where the long-established tradition of bouldering on the great blocks of the beech forest is now complemented by the opportunity to climb with a rope on the walls of Fonno della Botte.
