Pueblo - Soul Express

We gladly publish the pics of Alessandro Papa on Soul Express, a route recently revamped in the Pueblo area, between Gaeta and Sperlonga.  We asked  Alessandro his impressions of this route.

Sperlonga - Pueblo: Alessandro Papa su Soul Express (7c?)

The route Soul Express came to light after a great re-bolting work  in the Pueblo area, now very popular.

At first, when, together with the guys of the ASD Grandi Gesti team  we revamped this line, I paid it little attention, due to the rock quality of the first pitch, only 5 meters long. Thus I preferred to climb the neighboring lines, which ave also bees revamped.

A few weeks ago, after sent Nemesis, I made an attempt on Soul and I immediately knew that it was a completely different music!

After the first pitch, rises a vertical wall of orange limestone, with small and sharp holds, giving about 15 meters of continuous climbing up to a final hard move before the chain.

A lot of footwork to avoid falling, and so many crimps to pull...

The feeling I had while climbing this line was to push my limits at each hold, on my fingertips, tightening really small holds.

The historical grade of this route is 7b+, bu. as it didn't seem so different from the neighboring routes, I would propose 7c, waiting for other repeats.
