Something about L'Arena

L'Arena

L’Arena is a brand new spot, with routes of medium and high level, and of medium length. The holds are mainly crimps.

Being sheltered by the wind and southeast faced, it’s ideal for the mid-seasons and also good in winter (if the wall is not wet).

The base of the walls is quite comfortable and, in case of rain, a shelter is offered by the little cave.

This spot has been set by me (Francesco Poderini) and Frank Migliorati, with the help of our friends Ester Brachini and Andrea Cesari, both for the riveting and for arrangement. So we thank them for this, as we thank all those who wanted to support us.

Approach

From the East coast (Adriatico sea), take the highway Roma-Fano (Flaminia road) and exit at Acqualagna, direction Piobbico - Città di Castello. Then, after about 11 km look for the restaurant La Caprareccia, and park your vehicle there. If there is no place there, go back for almost 300 meters, and park your vehicle in a widening on the right side of the road, (it's the parking spot of Balza della Penna).

From Tuscany or Northern Umbria, go toward the town of Città di Castello, then take the SP257 road, cross the pass of Bocca Serriola, pass the towns of Apecchio and Piobbico, up to an evident parking spot on the left side of the road, and a dirt road with the sign “Fosso dell’Eremo” on the other side of the road. Pass this parking spot and continue. After a bit more than 1 Kilometer, you find the restaurant La Caprareccia: park your vehicle there. If there is no place, go further. After almost 300 meters, look for a widening on the right side of the road, and park your vehicle there (it's the parking spot of Balza della Penna).
